My man jewelry

So, I went in search for my man bracelets and found these!

Topshop/Topman were having their special promotion of : Buy One Get One Free promo. I really like the 'teeth' design piece. Added them to my small collection of accessories.

A simple mix. Easy no?

Style Inside...

Bonjour! Its been more than a week since I last blogged, its been a busy week with me traveling to Malaysia and all. So lets talk about Your Why and Philosophy on finding your style. These are the preliminary steps one needs to go through to decide how you want to shop/groom/present yourself.

"Style is knowing who you are..."

The reason, "I just to want look good." will not suffice,  its got to have more depth.
Why do I need that style identity?
Do I crave recognition?
Am I doing this to be respected?
Is it for self-development?
Peer pressure?
To emulate an idol?
This blog told me so?
I want to make a difference?

The whole purpose of knowing your 'Why', is essential to building a reason for your style which leads to forming a 'conviction'. Confident people have conviction in their actions. They know why/what they do especially when expressing/flaunting their style. Funnily enough, they even flop confidently and you won't know it! You'd probably think: "Yeah he meant to do that, but we just don't get it yet."

All reasons are acceptable but the conviction in each reason varies. For example, if you are stylizing yourself for the sake of being more accepted/liked by a certain group of people (high-school-ish, I know, but there are people like that!!) then I doubt its going take much to knock-down that conviction because your reason is dependent on the opinion of others. Then that'll be inconsistent with the whole idea of "...and not giving a damn."

What is your Philosophy? This is the "How I think and then do about it" part.

There isn't a generic philosophy for anyone because it is very personal matter. Instead, I'll share about my philosophy on style. I believe that:

  1. Life is too short to be ordinary/ugly
  2. Always take the road nobody usually chooses.
  3. Be bold but in an effortless/classy/subtle way.
  4. Practical beauty.
  5. Jump first, think/regret later!
That was small dose of my philosophy on style. I believe taking the road that nobody normally chooses because I don't believe in completely/blindly following trends; playing safe; joining the bandwagon. Now, boat shoes are the trend but I'd rather stick to my 10-holes Dr. Martens.

Be bold by choosing an otherwise dangerous color, like a shocking pink (for men) jacket and a white top while making sure its tasteful without the desperate screams for attention factor.

Practical is sporting a white wide brim fedora hat because I want to revive the stylish tradition of men wearing hats in rainy and sunny climates. I feel being too cautious and not taking the risk will get you nowhere. Never try, never will know! Your Why/Philosophy (internal) shapes your Style (external). The reason I'm stressing on this point is because your style is your opinion on how you want to look/behave.

So the more you know/understand it, the stronger your opinion = statement = style.

8 questions to find my style.

"So what's my style?"

I talked about style before, but how do you 'find' your style? I believe there isn't a fixed step by step way to finding it but there are roughly points you can go through that might lead you closer to it.

So, I'll offer you some points you SHOULD consider;

Your why. Why find your style? Why do you need it?

Your philosophy or knowing thyself.

What inspires you!?

Follow the "how to dress" guidelines loosely~

Personalize it!  Inject your personality into it!

What do you want people to think when they see you?

Do you look good? *snap snap*

Have fun ;)

The King of Pop on Vogue.

Remember, style is more than just the dressing. It's the whole package as style without substance is meaningless. I'll be writing more in detail about the above points on a later article so this shall do for now. Oh, just a reminder: Style speaks a lot about you, so think twice before you step out of that room of yours!

Style Is

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” - Coco Chanel

Style isn't just the dressing, its more than that...

I believe one's confidence can have a huge effect on one's style. How comfortable you are in that skin of yours, transmits to your dressing which then transmits to other people's senses. It's that aura that you can't see but can't help but feel. If you have that confidence, you can be wearing a tux in your office/college and people would still give you respect. That doesn't mean it is appropriate to do so (practice prudence) nor am I encouraging it but, instead of getting a 'weirdo' remark you might just pass off with 'trendsetter'

I always believe to find your style, you need to find that confidence first. No stylish person is ever self-pitying, most of the time, quite the extreme opposite! And they are also very deliberate with their style.

Who is stylish in my opinion?

Johnny Depp.

Whether on or off screen, he's just so... stylishly cool. I remember watching an interview done on Leonardo DiCaprio about his first on-set with Johnny Depp and he said this, "Johnny is really weird, but cool."

Its time to ponder again, "Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn."

Hmm, anyone watched the movie 'Coco Before Chanel' yet?

POST NO.1

The no.1 post of the blog. To be honest, its a first time at writing a blog and its quite scary. Hard to believe, it wasn't long ago i believed that people with blogs are attention-seekers... Well, I still think they are except for the right reasons now :P. I've got to mention two bloggers that really inspired me to try blogging:

Prince Pelayo

Bryanboy

Really got to admire their passion and dedication in blogging about fashion. Just check em' out for yourself. Besides, being a blogger in the revolution of social media is a career itself now! And, I've been acquainting myself to that industry already so mind as well maximize it.

So what am I going to do on this blog? Write about my feelings? Hmm it's a yes and no. I'll be expressing my feelings on everything that can relate to style - fashion, art, music, films, etc. Should be fun no? I always have something to say about everything so why not blog it? Well, I really got to get a nicer logo for this blog though... Its a work in progress so be gentle but I'd appreciate on how I can better this blog. Please leave comments!
